Day 1- Travel Day - Jeanne's Post

Friday, February 20, 2009

The morning started REALLY early. Flight left at 7:45 am, so up and at em at 5:00 am. Flight was quick, we arrived at the hotel caught some lunch and headed to Hollywood Studios. We started at the Star Wars, caught the ending of the block party (looked like it was a lot of fun) then checked out the Indiana Jones stunt show. Journey into Narnia was very disappointing for all of us, we did not have time to make it to Tower of Terror but we have plans to head back for to hit a couple of these.
We finished the day with Danny running a fever, we have no idea how high but he is not feeling himself. We are hoping for a goodnight sleep for all and hit a new park tomorrow on top of our game.

Excitement all around!

We have been very busy in the Bloomfield house. With the new puppy from Christmas, back at indoor for Bailey playing on 2 teams, Danny giving basketball a try and Emily trying her foot at a little indoor! We are gearing up to head out and see Mickey Mouse! Wow what fun that is going to be. The kids just can not wait! I can't wait to see the faces on them once they see what all this trip entails.
We had a fun filled weekend of sports. Bailey was in a tournament in Columbia, IL 5 games total for the weekend. We did not do as well as they had been but it was good to see some new competition. Emily had a great game on Saturday. They brought home a winner with Emily scoring 3 of the goals. Hope she keeps that passion. Danny played AWESOME in his basketball game. Scoring his first basket and an assist!!! Love to see him into something he loves again!
Jake is getting so big! I need to get him back to the vet, but wow. I just love that little guy. He is pretty much my dog. I feed him, walk him, take him out most of the time to bathroom, most of all, him and i curl up on the couch together and snuggle! I will try and get some pictures posted soon.
Check back this time next week and read what they have to say! We will be blogging so for the class time missed!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Hope Your Christmas was as wonderful as it was for our house! Good food, family and friends. My Children were SURPRISED by Grandma and Grandpa Drezek with a new member to our family. They got a 9 week old Shih-Poo (shih tzu poodle mix). He is white with a brown mask and a touch of black mixed in. Very sweet pup that LOVES to be held. Good thing too cause my kids want to HOLD HIM ALL THE TIME. We have to set the timer to take turns. It will wear off soon I am sure, then I will be doing all the work!!!!!

2008 Christmas will be one to remember for my Kiddo's!!!!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of our Family and Friends.

An update for Faye is that she had a blood transfusion on Sat the 13th. She had been doing great and her counts were down to 13 or 14. She took a turn on Mon or Tues and her counts are back up to 22 again. I think they are checking to see where the infection in again. Will update as we find out more!!

Faye Update at 3:11 PM Friday

Well there is NO staph infection which is very good. Her white counts did not move over night, which is good in the sense they did not go up. She has C diffiicile colitis, which is VERY contagious. If you visit you have to wear a gown and gloves and you can not touch her with an unprotected area of your body. At this point they are giving her 3 different Antibiotics to see if she can fight it. One complication could be that her colon is inflamed and could perforate, which at that point she becomes septic. Once you have this you are very susceptible to it coming back.

I will update as more becomes available.

About Faye (Dan's Mom)

Well there is lots going on in our lives but the biggest is Dan's Mom.......................................
She was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday with a stomach bug, severe dehydration, and mini strokes..............boy what a change 2 days makes.......................

They did a c-scan on her abdomen and pelvis today (Thurs) and also thought she had a staph infection.
Turns out her colon is infected and severely swollen. They are trying an antibiotic but does not look promising (she has been on antibiotics since Tues). They are going to take her blood counts in the morning but if they continue to rise like they have been there are 2 choices:
1st is leave it and continue to treat with antibiotics, if continues on the same path that would mean she will become septic and probably not make it through a week.
2nd is surgery…. This is very complicated due to her health. If she can make it though it she would most likely be in ICU for weeks to months given her health. Do to the fact she is on steroids for her breathing (it makes it harder and longer for healing process) that will make the healing process even worse. Also, she will most likely be put on a ventilator and then have to be weaned off (which would also be a long hard process for her). Not to mention that after all of this her life expectancy would only be 6mos to a year at best. In the surgery they would remove her colon; she will have a bag and run lots of risks of dehydration and infections.
Dan and Jim were with her tonight and she does not want surgery. The family does not want her to go through all of that.
Everyone agrees that she will not have the surgery.
We will know Friday about the blood counts so it is now just a waiting game.

The family is just praying that the Good Lord does what ever his will is but with out a lot of pain and suffering.
I will keep you posted.
